I've seen the honda wheel model snowblowers are priced higher than the husky/craftsman and others. Reason? What about hydrostatic transmission?

because its a honda!!!!! you cant kill it & it starts on the first pull everytime for the rest of your life!!!
Husky craftsman have tecumseh motors.CHEAP build quality.you get what you pay for-simple.

Do you want to be out in the cold, pulling repeatedly on a rope, or do you want to work? Buy the honda.

OK....... so tell my MTD it's not supposed to start every time, and throw the snow farther than a Honda. It's 4 years old and runs fine. Sorry, Hondas are just over priced.

as good as your MTD may be......i would venture to guess that the majority of people would choose a honda over anything!!! Anyone that has used a honda and the competitors will tell you that.

Nothing wrong with the Honda. However, the MTD performs better than any other brand I've tried. The Biggest Honda is still not as big as the 13hp 33" MTD, and the MTD is almost $1,000 less. The MTD has a 16" impeller, which is much bigger than the honda, and throws the snow farther and more of it.

NO sell here my friend. call me in a few years when the honda (that you never drained the fuel out of) keeps starting on the first pull, throws snow & newspapers etc, without bogging, stalling or even blinking. granted, other machines(with tecumseh engines) are cheaper in price-but NOTHING COMPARES to a honda.....do you compre cadillacs to lexus?? maybe at first...but 8yrs later -theres no comparison.

and with modern technology, just about all engine manuf. are building engines just as good as honda..........i cant think of any engine i have right nwo thats not a honda that wont crank up on the first pull and runs perfect. Honda is good, but so are alot of others too.

The only thing you forget is technology is changing so fast, that I could care less if my blower lasts too long, especially if I'm saving $1,000. The newer blowers now have fast turn chutes, independent steering (My 2000 MTD has it and had it first), new design augers to feed snow better, and spring loaded scraper bars, all which make the job much faster and easier.
Again, nothing wrong with the Honda, just overpriced and impractical for the professional.

you may be save 1000$ on the purchase price...but over the life of the machine....you will spend the same.I would rather have the machine ready to go than have it in the shop getting repaired. I have had Ariens, toro, snow king & none compare to the Honda. If you are worried about pric-then maybe you should consider raising your prices.....

I'm currently aware that there aren't any other track drive blowers but Honda. Are there any other ones, and is the track drive required for a 15-20 degree slope? Please let me know what the minimum slope that requires a track drive. Are they more reliable than the wheel?

What I don't like about track drive is the 75 moving parts as compared to 4 for a standard wheel drive. Also, it doesn't put as much weight on the front of the scraper bar, also going up over curbs is hard because the machine doesn't tilt that much. And, unless they have changed it, the Honda doesn't have independent clutches for each wheel. Go ahead, try turning it on pavement, then try one with separate wheel clutches......

Although I dont have to worry about snow down here in florida, I will voice my opinion in saying that honda makes fine products that are ridiculously overpriced. Honda is not the best in every category as some believe. JMO

Everyone else tried the track drive and seemed to fail. Honda somehow made it work. Here in the snowbelt they sell out every Sept. Honda makes a great engine and yes they are overpriced and yeah they do last forever. The downside for me to the tracks is the travel speed is slow. For our commercial work we use the wheeled units. MTD and the rest make decent blowers, I personally use a 12 year old Ariens. Just won't quit, can't bring myself to buy a new one. The Ariens has a Tecumseh power plant. Tecumseh makes a great cold weather engine, Snow King I think they call it. They seem to be the only ones other than Honda in the 4 cycle snowblower engine market.

granted Honda will go and go and go. maybe they're in partnership with the Energizer rabbit? :D

I guess it really depends on how much you use a snowblower and how long you want it to last whether or not the Honda is worth the extra dough.
