Well I finally bit the bullet and bought me a digital camara today, I got a Nikon Coolpix 3100, I got it for $296 at office depot. That camara is so small that I had it in my pocket and didn't even know that it was there.

You'll wonder how you got by without it. They are great for snapping pics of customers' properties.

I did the same, although I guised it as a present for my wife. ;) I got the Minolta G500 which is actually a Konica. Can't wait for her to open it Thursday so I can play with it. LOL

Here is part of a review for the camera you bought. http://www.steves-digicams.com/2003_reviews/nikon3100_pg5.html This site is phenomenal! There is also a discussion board like here, all about digital photography.

I bought my wife a Sony cd500. Takes great pictures. I'm used to using a 1.3 mega pixel -- so 5 megapixels is amazing.

It also copies the images directly onto a cd -- so that is very nice. Just take it out and pop it in the computer. each disk costs 3$ and holds 168 megs.

I bought my wife a Sony cd500. .
GREAT camera, I have the CD 1000 and love it, nothing is better than the CD-RW cameras. PS, you can get Sony CD's at Wal-MArt 10 for $8 and they are the 200 mb disk.

Yardman,
Got one just like yours. There are so many uses for it that it’s unreal. I used it to take some pic of unidentified weed and e-mailed it to the guy @ Lesco and he e-mailed me back with the name of it. Now I can kill it. He flipped out over the quality of the pic. If you didn't get the rechargeable batteries go ahead and do it. You'll figure out why shortly.

I was going to go today and buy a bigger flash card and the rechargeable batteries, I was going to the day that I bought it and forgot.

ONe thing about digital cameras, they do go through a lot of batteries.

Just a little info on the rechargable batteries...

We bought SunPak, cheap ones at the local camera store...then, I purchased Energizer rechargables. The cheap ones outlast the Energizers three to one. We've had the SunPaks for almost 4 years and they are just now starting to lose some strength.

If you buy rechargables without the recharge station, make sure the type of batteries and charger match, or you may have some problems.

Ok, I'm not the smartest guy when it comes to electronics. Hell, I have a hard time using my $2500 computer. 3 months ago I bought a Canon ZR 65 MC video camcorder. I played with it the first day I had it, got frustrated, and haven't touched it since. I know I can use it to take pictures as well as videos. But, the 3 books (and they are books) of instruction is just more than I care to read.

If anyone can give the 10 minute, simple (idiot proof) instruction on how to use it, this dumbazz would appreciate it.

Not sure about that particular cam, but we have a Panasonic something or another digital camcorder. It has a picture button that you can press at any time to take a pic. Also, just the pics can be recorded to the com... or you can transfer the video and draw pics from any part of the "film".

Unless, someone here has the same camcorder, or one very similar, you are probably going to be stuck reading the books...sorry that was not what you probably wanted to hear... :p
