Hi guys,
I'm new here, and I'm not in the lawn business (I used to be back in the early 80's). I still try and buy good stuff to take care of my own lawn however. I currently use a Scag 48" walk-behind for home use.
I own 50 acres in Fallston, Maryland and bought some equipment to improve/maintain it and I thought I'd post some pictures of my equipment seeing that the Forum is called Large Tractor and Skid Steer.
Hopefully someday I will be building a home on this property, but currently I am starting a tree farm (shade trees) and growing them using the Whitcomb System (Rootmaker Products).

Nice equipment.
50 acres..........hmmm. Must be nice and quiet.
Me........I would build a home right smack in the middle and dance around naked outside......:)
LOL
If I should ever decide to toss it in and retire. I would liquidate everything and do 1 of 3 things.
1 - Buy some 500 - 1,000 acres in Montana or Wyoming. House smack in the middle and disapear and stop paying taxes.
2 - Buy a town or something in South America.
3 - Live out the last of my days in Australia or New Zealand.
It's my dreams that keep me going.......:)

You're being a software engineer explains the sig line, a funny one I might add.

tree farms are pretty easy to operate--i run a 1000 acre tree farm in south alabama--we grow pine to make paper and telephone poles--we cut on a 6 yr. rotation--(just watch out for fires--some stupid ass guy rode buy our place on just rims and caught 12 acres on fire---he was drunk---huge fine--had it coming)

I don't suppose the fine was enough to pay for the lost 12 acres, was it?

we do have trees already growing--we have cut twice now for bout $1000 per acre and no--the fine was not quite enough to cover the damage but the state--or at least the american tree farm asso.-- will give us the $ to pay for new trees--the only hard part is keeping the rows mowed good--cause u cant see the tree--our tractor only gets 1 inch clearance per side---off subject--anyway --yeah we had to rent a tigercat tree grinder and run it for about 2 wks--that thing has some serious juice goin in it.----
