I just bought a used Bobcat 610. It's old and rusty, but it runs, and the engine sounds good. I need something to clean horse manure and maintain my driveway. I immediately noticed that the battery needs replacement, there is a loose ragged fuel line that drips, the seat is trash, and the tires are poor. All of these items I can repair or replace myself. I also plan to give it a cost of paint. But before I do anything costly I need to find how to fix the engine oil leak. It has a Wisconsin engine. (Why they are called Wisconsin engines I dont know, so I assume they are made in WI).

Anyhow, there is an oil leak below the distributor. The leak is not the distributor mounting, but an oil seal of some sort that is directly below the dist. and is on a shaft that comes out and has 2 chains on a sproket. The other end of that shaft goes to a thing that looks like some sort of pump. The leak is bad enough to spray the distributor and make everything oily, so it needs repair.

I have never worked on a skidloader, but have worked on lots of cars, trucks, and my Farmall H. But this oil leak sort of scares me, not knowing what I am getting myself into. Maybe I will see if I can find a private repair shop. (I already know that dealers are very costly). But I am willing to tackle this job myself if I can get an idea what to do. Can anyone tell me how to get to that oil seal, or should I say *how to get everything apart to get the seal in place*.

By the way, is there a preferred type of seat to use, or can I get something from an old car or something?

Thanks to all replies.

horsenut, sounds like your leak is coming from the distributor drive for the hydraulic pump, if this is the case you can have 2 types of leaks you could have, 1 would be hydraulic fluid & it may be spraying out with pressure from your pump on to the disributor or motor oil from the distributor side. my unit has a toothed (lovejoy) type coupling on it but i have seen one with the double chain/sprocket on it & it will have a master link in it to separate the sprockets. i will try to attach a picture out out the parts book if i have one when i get it scanned. as far as the seat i found a perfect one at northern tools for $69.
i've found this little machine is very handy for my needs & also a lt of fun, good luck
