I have an early John Deere 240 Skid Steer and I can't get the park brake to release (which also locks out the boom and bucket). I've replaced the park brake switch and have checked all the fuses and current to the fuses. It's really frustrating. If anybody has any suggestions what to check I'd really appreciate hearing from you.

Check the seat belt? There's a sensor or something in the "female" end that gets haywire sometimes. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I do believe the seatbelt has to be engaged properly before yout can click that parking brake switch off.

Thanks. But I have checked both the seat belt switch and seat switch (has to have the belt buckled and weight on the seat) for continuity, they seem OK.

HaH! Maybe I should. From what I hear this was Deere's first attempt at a skid steer and they have a lot of bugs that weren't worked out yet. I inherited this one and it only has 500 hours but sure has been a lot of trouble.
