Hi, new to this forum, just got a bobcat 610 over the weekend. I ordered a manual but was wondering if it would be ok to run synthetic in the wisconsin vh4d engines and being in Minnesota would it be better in the winter to run 5w30 or 10w30 any help would be great? I have heard the synthetic makes for an easier start.

if the engine has been properly maintained synthetic will work but if not u could be askin for more oil leaks than u want

Yes synthetic will make for easier starts

I have learned that it's a myth that synthetic will cause oil leaks on older engines. Viscosity is viscosity. If it leaks with one oil it will leak with another. I run synthetic in everything. I love the smooth cold weather starts and the fact it is engineered to maintain it's viscosity at a greater temp range. Very much unlike the dead dinosaurs we are pumping out of the ground.

DO NOT use synthetic oil in that wisconsin. Those engines run straight 30. I work on alot of them on concrete pumps and I was told by the master tec at wisconsin NOT to use it. The way the oil system is set up in the wisconsin is there are tubes that spray oil under the pistons and there is something about the synthetic oil that plugs the tubes up. That is what i was told. Had a guy in canada say the motor worked fine with 30 in the cold.
