Hi all,

I recently started a small skid steer and tipper business in Australia.

After much googling and searching forums including this one I purchased a new ASV RC30 Positrack with a Digga Auger and Digga Trencher. Also a new Hino 614 dump truck. I also built a trailer to carry it and the equipment around on.

I was very hesitant about buying a tracked machine having heard some horror stories re wear and on costs. In the end the decision was clinched when I found at CAT had purchased a % of ASV to obtain the track technology and being a CAT fan I felt this was a good endorsement.

Sadly the current Aus RC30 comes with a perkins not a CAT motor which is disapointing for a CAT fan.

It now has 60 hours and I am very happy with it. As a novice operator the tracks really make life easy particularly levelling and smoothing off the job. Really happy with the minimal damage to turf provided you dont twist too much. Have done a few jobs on house sites adding fill to house slabs and very happy how you can glide straight over trenches and holes.

Only negatives is the 4 in 1(Clambucket in US?) bucket that is fitted is very slow on opening and closing compared to the bobcat I operated previously.

So three thumbs up thus far!

I have owned an RC30 for about 1,000 hours, I am up to about 14 attachments now, I love this machine, its as handy as a swiss army knife! About your motor, the cat motor IS a perkins, let me explain: Back when I got my ASV RC30, Cat was partnered with AGCO, Allis-Gleaner CO, on combines, and some motor sourcing came from MF and perkins, both branches of AGCO. I believe that when CAT went into partnership with ASV, they just rebadged the motor as a CAT. Since that time, I believe that CAT sold the combine line to AGCO, and ASV has just been sold to TEREX! Does this clear anything up, if it does, please explain it to me! The only thing I can offer as far as my experience with this machine goes, read the manual, and don't over tighten the tracks. Should give you many years of good service!:l)

Let's see if I can remember them all! Commercial made attachments: 4 in 1 bucket, tooth bucket, grapple bucket, Harley rake, auger unit, augers from 3-30 ", landscape scraper/plane. Partially home made: forklift forks, 1/2 yard light materials bucket, stone fork, snow blower, flail mower, aerator, tree terminator, manure fork. Completely home made: Bush hog mower. In the works: Trencher and stump grinder. More as I think them up!:C)

Congrats & welcome to the site! You'll LOVE that machine, I ran a CAT 287B & they say the ASV's are even nicer. Gotta say though you Ausia's sure do have different setups; never seen a trailer like that before around here.
