Anyone had this problem?

Bought a digital camera.
Downloaded softwear,
Have uploaded several pictures to PC, even posted some on this forum.
Now all of a sudden, pictures will not upload from camera to PC. Its like it does'nt recognize the camera.

Took the camera, cradle and USB cable back into Staples, they tried on their PC and it worked fine. l^)

Have you tried clearing the USB and plugging it in again? I've had this happen with our scanner before and had to do something with USB to get it to recognize it again.

LG...I have removed the USB driver and went to the Fujifilm website and downloaded the driver for this camera and windows XP. Still no luck.. I am wondering that the USB port in my PC is bad.
Is that what you mean by "clearing"?

I had the exact problem that you do. Its not the camera, and im willing to bet you have Windows XP. There is suppose to be a patch on the windows site to fix the Auto Play function. Thats what has gone bad. If you have Windows XP i can tell you how to get your pictures to your comp.

Ok i read that you do have XP.....what you need to do is this.......

Connect the camera like you would to the PC and cut it on download mode

Open My Computer and click on Removable Disk F:

There should be a folder that says DCIM, click on that

Than it should take you to a folder that says 100_Fuji, click on that

Then that should let you manually tansfer the pics.

What Matt said. I have a Fuji as well. All pics go to that one file,100_Fuji.

With XP, it should automatically pop up with a window when you plug in the USB or insert the card. Mine does anyway.

same here when ya plug the camera into the usb cable the "safely remove hardware"icon pops up on the taskbar. XP should be recognizing this automaticly. If not and you have to do it manually then theres a conflict in your system and you can do like Matt said but you will still have the conflict in your system. I would at least go into my device manager and have a look see.

I have a fuji fine pix and have had one problem like you described. I think it was my usb port. I have two ports on the front of the machine and then it quit working when plugged into those. I plugged it into one of the back ports and it was fine. Try moving to another USB port.

We also have Fuji Finepix and XP...I've had to download a patch for both computers. The patch I downloaded was on Fujifilm.com. Did you recently update XP? That may be where the problem lies. Keep trying, the Fujifilm camera is worth it.

If you need the patch from fujifilm, let me know, I'll try to find it for ya.

Daren that's the same problem we had with Mike's computer when we updated to XP. I couldn't remember exactly why I had to clear the USB until you said that.

Matt, Your suggestion worked. I was able to upload the pics to the pc. Do they have to remain in the 100 fuji folder or can I somehow save them to "my pictures"? I could'nt figure out how to do that.

You will have to also open the my pictures folder in a seperate window and just drag them over.

I have never cleared a USB port Cindy. I'll have to look that up. The front ones just don't seem to be working. I haven't tried them in a while. I had to wire them up when I got the machine so the wires may have come lose as much as I move this thing around. Too lazy to look I guess.

This usually works with any kind of usb devices
XP versions, go to device managers(before doing this disconnect all usb devices)
select all usb ports, right click and remove them all including the hubs
re- boot the computer
Xp will now re-detect the ports and automatically load your drivers.

This goes for all proprietary software...
Xp wants you to use it's software to view your pics, so companies like fuji, kodak want you to use their software. This is 95% of all problems occur.

Learn to use the windows explorer(file viewer) it's so much easier than using the proprietary software.

Just my thoughts on this subject....

Upgrade your USB Driver.Make shure you have 2.0 or higher.

Thanks Gusbuster and Harry too. I haven't been on here in a few days. What John said sounds very much like what I had to do.

Bayfish, if what Matt said to do works, don't change it. I found with fuji and windows, sometimes as long as it's working it's better to leave it alone lol.

USB 2.0 is not an updated driver. It is another type of USB. Faster than the initial USB that came out. It was a competitive answer to firewire.
