Dana goto control panel and klik on printers and faxes and see if your printers icon is check marked. IF it is then right klik on that icon and goto properties-advanced tab and see if the "always available" is "green dotted". Sounds as if your printer is not configured properly.

Dana, try removing the printer and reinstalling it. It sounds like some kind of driver issue. Check the vendor's site to see if there are newer drivers. If that doesn't work, try to take a screen shot of what happens and I can try to help better. When the funny browser pops up hit alt and prnt scrn together then paste in a word doc or something and you can email to me if need be.
Thanks guys. I will be home Friday. I will let you all know how I make out. I appreciate the advice. Instead of breaking stuff, I have you guys to help. lol

Dana,
If it is a usb printer and you are not using the same hub point, could just be that the computer just doesn't know where the printer is connected.
for example, you used usb 1 to install the printer driver and the software told the computer to use usb1 and for some reason you disconnected it, now you connected to usb 3, the computer just doesn't the printer is on usb3.
As was told earlier, control panel, printers and check to see where it is located.
