Last week sometime after going thru a pop-up hell my homepage starting to reset automatically after rebooting to http ://t.rack.cc/h.php?aid=35 (I added space so it doesn't screw anyone else). This address is listed in my general internet options as my homepage. I can change it to www.Lawncafe.com, but when I reboot it automatically changes back to the "t.rack...." one. I have looked for bookmarks that don't look right and haven't seen anything. Another thing is this t.rack automatically redirects me to www.coolsites.com. Any ideas on how to stop this so I can have Lawncafe back as my homepage???? Help!

You have a spy that has hyjacked your PC. Just do a search on "damn coolsearch" and you should find your answer.

PS: We are proud you have LawnCafe.com as you home page!!!

Hey Scaper,

It's so ironic that I clicked on this at this moment because I have been doing some changing on my computer's security and I have some answers for you.

I have been using Panda Titanium as my internet firewall. However, I had many programs on my computer that were put here illegally. What I mean by that is that I had a friend that is quite savvy with computers. He helped (and I use that word sparingly) configure my system. I thought he was doing me big favors, however, many of the programs he put on my system were HACKED versions of software and the registration codes were bogus. As I grew more knowledgable about computers, I realized that I had pirated software on my computer. One of those was my Panda firewall. When the registration ran out, I was asked to re-enter my registration number, something I no longer had.

But I recently bought a Linksys wireless router and with it came a trial version of Norton's newest firewall. So I uninstalled the pirated software and installed the REAL version from Nortons. I've been using AdAware and it got rid of popups and Gator/Gain crap from my computer. However, it did not find all of the crap on my computer.

I'm not suffering from coolsites like you are, but I just now found out what is going on. This comes from a spyware company based in Taiwan that does nothing but bad things to your system registry. You have a program on your computer inside of your program files called "DIGStream.exe.

Try to get rid of it and it says "Access denied, make sure that this program is not copywrite protected." Try to go to your Add/Remove program files in your control panel and it doesn't appear to be there. But it is and it is a parasite. It will open up your computer to the latest worms and viruses in today's world unless your fight this plague.

Several websites and computer guru forums suggest CW shredder and several other programs to combat this disease. Try going to Downloads.com and checking the site out for internet security. But here is the catch:

Many programs are listed under "FREE" or "shareware". Those are better than nothing, but often times only worth what you paid for them. I am using my Symantec Norton's Internet Security free for 60 days. Then I either have to buy it or uninstall it because it will no longer be valid. I'm writing a check to them as we speak.

Try using your search button and I bet you find a program on your computer called Digstream. Do whatever you can to get rid of it. If you think you got rid of it and reboot, it comes right back up many times. Unless you are a computer guru, DO NOT mess with your system regfiles. You can mess things up worse than they already are.

While installing the latest Norton's updates, I did a Google search for Digstream and clicked on "I'm feeling lucky". It will take you straight to a forum of computer gurus about internet security. They may be talking "over your head", but you can get the gist of what they are saying. The forum is called something like TomsCoyote or something like that.

Get rid of Digstream, block it, quarrantine it, or delete it altogether, but this is your problem with coolsights or whatever it's called. Good luck and please let me know what progress you have made!

Just a little add on, keeping up on all the security updates that Microsoft issues. Most of the stuff that is added on takes advantage of machines that are not patched properly.

Whoever thought of the Gator program, well without too much detail, would love to give that guy a hair cut with my line trimmer.
