zero turn mowers
I have visited several dealers looking at mowers. I might sell my belt driven walk behind. I am looking at the zero turn mowers. The price difference is a major turn off. Can I justify buying a zero turn mower?

I was useing my WB friday, and i wish it was my Z.If you want to reduce the ammount of debris flying in your face a Z is the way to go.Your sinus will thank you to.A Z will not keep you in shape, thats the only down fall i can find.

Only you can decide if you can justify the expense of ZTR. I decided to buy one because the lawn tractor I had been using was not efficient enough for the larger properties. Now I don't have properties as large and walk behind and sulky would probably work just as good. If you have large properties and need to be done quicker look at a Z. If you have smaller properties I would stay with the walk behind.

I think once you try the Z you'll want nothing else. Efficient, productive, install a striper roller on it and view your good works. The investment is high, however in the long run I don't think you'll be sorry. Besides you can take on more accounts. I agree with jmow.
As they say to Mikey, try it you'll like it.

I agree. Walking and even sulkies don't compare to a zero turn rider. |

But I speak for the WB--I have both wb's and ZTR's. The best answer is that it depends on the properties you cut. I find I am almost as fast or faster on the WB w/sulky on smaller properties or in areas with a lot of obstacles, particularly in tight areas where the ZTR can't go. It depends-how many accounts do you have and if you can save enough time to increase your profitablity enough to cover the difference in cost. If you are starting out, will this increase the number of accounts you can do or the speed you can do those same properties. You have to increase yout production SIGNIFICANTLY to cover the cost differential in my opinion. DO the math so that this is not just an expensive toy. A ZTR is a tool to help you make money--find out if it will help you BEFORE you lay out the cash
