BASF launches liquid DriveŽ XLR8
![]() BASF launches liquid Drive® XLR8 herbicide for improved weed absorption, shorter rainfastness and better control than dry formulation New water-based liquid postemergence herbicide gives better broad-spectrum control of broadleaf and grassy weeds WASHINGTON, D.C., May 13, 2008 -- BASF Turf & Ornamentals today announced at its Crop Protection media summit the launch of Drive® XLR8 herbicide, a new liquid formulation of Drive 75 DF herbicide. Grassy and broadleaf weeds absorb Drive XLR8 faster, resulting in rainfastness in 30 minutes compared with dry formulations that can require nearly 24 hours. This gives turf professionals more flexibility in their pest management programs. Broad-spectrum, quinclorac-based Drive XLR8 herbicide is a postemergence product that controls the most prevalent weeds, including crabgrass, dandelions and clovers, and can be used on most tolerant cool- and warm-season grasses. The Drive XLR8 liquid formulation offers easier mixing, handling and spraying. It has a use rate of 1.5 ounces per 1,000 square feet and is labeled for use on commercial and residential turf grasses, golf courses, sod farms and sports fields. Turf professionals can tank mix the liquid formulation with Pendulum® herbicide and other preemergence herbicides for annual grass control, as well as combine it with other postemergence broadleaf products to increase the spectrum of postemergence control.
